Do you find yourself constantly picking at your lips or biting them to get the chapped skin off? Do you show up to a shoot excited to do beautiful makeup only to discover the model has been chewing on her lips for weeks and there’s no way to get them smooth and supple in a short amount of time ? Well, LUSH has created an incredible product to do the impossible without a lot of time or mess involved. There are many lip scrub products on the market that require you to exfoliate, wash, then put an overly emollient moisturizer on the lips and allow time for it to absorb. With this lip scrub from LUSH you take a little bit out of the jar, rub into your lips and the exciting part is this product is 100% Vegan and is edible! You just lick your lips and you’ve exfoliated, moisturized and had a yummy treat.

LUSH has created three very delicious flavors:
Mint Julips Lip Scrub
My Favorite! With Peppermint Oil and Vanilla Extract to give it a deliciously minty flavor.

Sweet Lips
Chocoholics will cheer for this Milk Chocolate flavored scrub using Vanilla Extract, Jojoba Oil and Cocoa Extract

Bubble Gum
This one is bright pink with Castor Sugar and Jojoba Oil, it really does taste like bubblegum!

Get to your nearest LUSH counter, or head out to their website and order yourself a jar of delicious scrub!

LUSH Lip Scrub retails at $8.95/0.9oz jar

A girlfriend of mine recently introduced me to a mask that “made her skin feel amazing”. Being one of those women with overly sensitive skin, I’ve run at lightning speed from every mask, scrub, peel and “miracle product” my entire life. Everything I try either burns, itches or ends up causing more problems than it is ever worth. Not to mention the money I waste! My friend kept insisting that I give this mask a try so one afternoon we prepped our faces and smeared on this old school smelling, pink, creamy gel. Within 60 seconds I could feel the tightening begin and mentally clenched my teeth as I waited for the inevitable burning, itching rash to start. Even though the tightness became more intense- surprisingly it had no adverse side effects… so far.

With the mask quickly working its magic on our faces, we sat back and waited. I couldn’t stop laughing because of how tight this mask felt. When I finally got the mask to give a little I had these really deep grooved wrinkle lines from the drying product clinging to my face. It was like a plastic wrapped vice grip. The laughing only intensified as we looked at each other with the tight mask and crazy wrinkles. We now knew what we would look like 50 years from now! Within 20 minutes we started to emulsify the mask with lukewarm water then washed it off with a damp cloth. Still no adverse affects!

I was amazed at how my skin appeared! My enlarged pores were now visibly smaller and I didn’t have a rash or severe reaction. In the back of my mind I told myself, just wait, in a day or two your acne will become hyper active and you’ll curse this adventure, along with all the other failed attempts to find amiable products for your skin. Several days went by and nothing but happy skin. Within a week of this experience I went to my local Merle Norman Salon and bought the mask for myself. I have used it several times and each time the tightness of the product, as it dries, still makes me laugh.

If my information source is correct, this product has never been re-formulated and is one of their original products when Merle Norman started over 75 years ago! It just goes to show you that some things our mothers and grandmothers used are still the best things out there! Give this mask a try. You will be very happy you did!

MIRACOL® Revitalizing Cream

For all skin types.

Luxurious, creamy formula delivers the same deep-cleansing benefits as MIRACOL® Revitalizing Lotion to reduce excess oil and remove impurities. Skin appears polished and refined. Oil-free.

It was a pretty intense shoot but the 14 hours went by SO fast! I did makeup and hair on all four gals and had some pretty fast makeup changes and added effects for the end of the video. These screen grabs are amazing and I can’t wait to see the full music video! I’ll make sure to post it as soon as it’s available!

Yes, I have been away from the blog for over two years! It’s utterly shameful the lack of attention I have given to my blog. I’m going try and make it a goal to keep up to date on what I’ve been up to at least once a month. Who knows, if you all fall in love with what I have to say, maybe I’ll do it more often. I would really like to start talking about my favorite makeup and hair products and share with you what I’ve learned and the discoveries I’ve made along the way!

So for today, I’ll give you a review of the last two years so we can start posting the fun stuff! I just spent the last 16 months attending cosmetology school! Yes, I finally decided to get licensed. On May 24th I will take the last test required by the state and, fingers crossed, I will be officially recognized as a professional licensed cosmetologist! Whoop Whoop!

Never in my life did I imagine this is the path I would walk down, but I’m so glad I did. I’ve grown very passionate about hair styling and am excited to see where the road will take me from here. There are so many people I would like to thank for their support and encouragement to me over the past 16 months, you know who you are. From the bottom of my heart, Thank You. Thank You SO much for being there for me, for helping me see the bigger picture, for motivating me with big challenges and competitions, for allowing me to stumble and falter but find my true strength, for understanding when I didn’t understand and for knowing that even though I didn’t think it was worth it at the time, it really was!

During my graduation ceremony, much to my shock, I was awarded certificates for Highest Overall Grade Average, Highest Attendance Percentage, Highest Retention of New Guests and Recognition for Outstanding Leadership in Makeup Specialty. While in school I participated in many fundraising events, the honors program (Phase II) and taught makeup classes. There definitely weren’t very many dull moments! One of the most exciting times during school was being able to participate in a few competitions. Myself along with various team mates were runner up in a color/cut competition on a mannequin, 1 of 8 finalists in the American Beauty Show’s Rising Start Student Competition and I even submitted work to NAHA in the Student Hairstylist category. Every project was a major learning experience and I had an amazing time working together with so many people to use my new found knowledge to create incredible masterpieces. lol, at least to me they were incredible! If school didn’t keep me busy enough, I decided to take extra classes like the James Ryder Makeup Courses and right out of school I became certified to do bonded hair extensions through Euro-SoCap using Tony Odisho extensions.

For the next couple of weeks I will continue to study for my final exam and after that will figure out what comes next. There’s a possibility I will work part time in a salon to sharpen my skills and also to work with the clients who have become dear to me through my time at school. I absolutely will be jumping back into the freelance world and have already had a few amazing shoots in the past two weeks. I’ll share more on that in posts to come.

Thank you to everyone who keeps up with the site and for checking in on me every now and then too! For those of you who I have worked with in the past, I look forward to working with you again very soon! To my family and friends, you are all rock stars with without everyone of you, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

Keep it Crazy, Keep it Pretty!

As many of you already know, I did makeup and hair for the IZOD Spring ’08 campaign. The images are starting to surface in some pretty high end magazines and I just had to share with you a few of the ads. It’s such a thrill and an incredible sense of accomplishment to see the work I’ve done over the past five years now starting to shine for the world to see.

The crew on this job was so amazing. Our photographer, Troy Plota (www.troyplota.com) is SO talented and the type of photographer one dreams of working with! His great attitude and driven desire to get the right shot made the four days of shooting a breeze. Sue, Andrea and myself created the Triple Threat Team and boy did we hash out some rawking makeup and hair! Thanks ladies for such an amazing time! Chad and Laura were a magical team to watch with wardrobe and set styling … true magicians with their craft.

The best part of the job was being in Cancun, Mexico for four days! What a great location for a photo shoot! I can’t even begin to describe how gorgeous it was. Perfect weather, fantastic crew, gorgeous models, great clothes … it all adds up to what you see below! A HUGE thanks to Tarrah and Joanie for letting me be a part of the team and for asking me back again for the next campaign!

Here are a few ads/posters that have shown up in the past couple of weeks!
